The All-New 2022 Jaguar I-Pace
With an all-electric powertrain, the 2022 Jaguar I-Pace is as intriguing as it looks. Although the I-Pace's futuristic facade will limit its popularity outside of the luxury market, its luxurious designation and price make it very compelling. This vehicle is the ideal choice with a 253-mile range rated by the EPA, plus fast charging and instant acceleration. A controlled demeanor and engaging steering make the I-Pace feel more like a sports car than a five-seater crossover. Inside the Jag is a stylish vehicle with a generous amount of space for passengers and modern features.
Updated for 2022
Jaguar adds several improvements to the I-Pace for the 2022 model year after missing the 2021 model. A camera system with 360-degree views is included, as well as a free 4G data plan. With the Bright package, you'll get chrome exterior trim, Atlas Grey accents, and other minor changes to the styling. The infotainment system inside the vehicle has been modified to make it easier to use compared to the old one. As an added bonus, it tells you where the nearest charging stations are, as well as how long it will take for a battery to be fully restored. Moreover, the new I-Pace comes with an 11-kW onboard charger that offers faster at-home charging than the previous 7.0-kW model. According to Jaguar, a dead battery now takes 8.6 hours to fully recharge instead of 12.6 that was previously needed.
Now, only the previously top-tier HSE trim will be available for the 2022 Jaguar I-Pace. However, it now costs $11k less than the previous base model, with an identical starting price. In addition to lane-keeping assistance and adaptive cruise control, the HSE features leather upholstery, a head-up display, a premium audio system, a power-operated liftgate, heated and cooled front seats, and 20-inch wheels.
What's There to Know About the Engine, Performance, and Transmission
Due to a combination of two electric motors producing a total of 394 horsepower and 512 pound-feet of torque, the I-Pace comes standard with all-wheel drive. You'll be able to shift into high gear and accelerate quickly and effortlessly to make quick work of traffic lights and highway slowdowns. With its air suspension system and good steering feedback, the I-Pace provides a comfortable ride. Its low center of gravity is made possible by a hefty battery pack under the floor. It enhances both agility and stability.
How long does the battery last, how does it charge, and how far can it go?
An EPA-rated driving range of 253 miles is provided by the 90.0-kWh battery pack featured in every I-Pace. In comparison, the Audi e-tron has a range of up to 204 miles, while the Tesla Model X range is up to 295 miles. However, the Jag's electric battery can be topped up to 80 percent in just 40 minutes with a standard DC fast-charging port. The 240-volt AC outlet, more common than the faster charging option, will take an estimated 8.6 hours to recharge the battery fully. It takes less than half the time to charge this model than last year's. Why? The onboard charger for the Jaguar I-Pace was upgraded from a 7.0-kW unit to one that has 11.0 kW.
Fuel Economy, Conformity, and Interior Design
It is estimated that the I-Pace will have 80 MPGe in the city, 72 MPGe on the highway, and 76 MPGe combined by 2022. Although the ratings are comparable to those from the e-tron, they are substantially lower than those from the Model X. Visit the EPA's website to learn more about the I-Pace's fuel economy.
Jaguar's sporty I-Pace interior boasts a slick dashboard and a generous amount of space for passengers. Despite having nicely bolstered seats in the front, the seats aren't the most comfortable for long drives, as stated in other reviews. Many desirable features are available for the Jaguar I-Pace, such as a head-up display, four-zone climate control, choices of leather upholstery, heated front, and rear seats, and many others that can be custom fitted to the buyers' desires. In addition to the cubby storage, the center console features a proper bin under the armrest and a tray beneath the center stack. The rear cargo area can fit seven carry-on suitcases, and the rear seats can accommodate 18 when folded.
Infotainment and Tech
There are two screens in every Jaguar I-Pace, with an upper screen that handles audio functions and a lower display that deals primarily with cabin climate. Jaguar claims that its interface has been improved to be more intuitive. Among the neat features of the new software are the maps that show electric vehicle charging stations' locations and provide information such as where they are, how much they cost, and the estimated time to charge. The Jaguar I-Pace offers Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities as standard. Also standard is an 825-watt Meridian sound system.
Safeguards
Among some of the standard safety features of this electric beauty are a 360-degree camera system, automatic high beams, and blind-spot monitoring. Other safety features include:
